Clinical Services
Information for potential clients
I am a registered clinical psychologist. I adhere to the regulations, standards
of practice and ethical principles of the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
Services:
The psychological services that I provide involve the assessment and treatment
of psychological problems. I work with adults, in the areas of clinical
psychology and health psychology. I often see people who have sleep difficulties.
I also see individuals who are under stress, and people who are feeling
depressed or anxious.
I am happy to talk with you by phone to provide information about my services.
If you decide to see me, then I usually mail out some further information
and some forms to complete, prior to your first session. The information
collected on these forms is to assist me in understanding the nature of
your problem.
The first session is an assessment session and it involves me reviewing
information with you about my services, confidentiality, and the self-report
forms that you have provided. It also involves me asking you some questions
in order to determine your current situation and the nature of your problem.
This usually takes about 1.5 hours.
The treatment depends on your particular problem, but it generally involves
two to 12 sessions. I use primarily cognitive-behavioural therapy. The main
focus is on you learning skills to effectively cope with or to overcome
your problem and to improve your well being. I will guide and support you
with this. These skills involve strategies that have been shown through
research to be useful in the treatment of the specific type of problem that
you are experiencing. (The treatment does not involve taking medication.)
Fees:
The fee is $120 per session. A session is one hour in duration. Sometimes
the first session is longer (e.g., 1.5 hours). Fees are payable by cheque
or cash at the end of each session, at which time you will be provided with
a receipt.
Please Note: Psychologists’ services are not covered by OHIP. Many
people have insurance coverage through their employers or other health plans
for visits to a registered psychologist. If this is the case, you would
submit the receipts from your sessions to the insurer for reimbursement.
